Gentle Joy Caregiving Gentle Joy is located just seven minutes from town, on a beautiful five acre estate surrounded by nature, island charm and tranquility. Gentle Joy is owned and operated by Angela Light. Angela has over 15 years of caregiving experience, and has worked in a wide variety of healthcare and social work environments. She has also held an administrative position in social services for mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults. Our center is a wholistically oriented adult family home. We offer support services to residents who are on their healing and recovering paths, as well as to those who desire a warm and loving environment at the completion of their life's journey.
Our alternative health services include: specialized diets, such as: Dr. Young’s alkaline diet, vegetarian, and HeartWiseTM, herbal and vitamin therapies, and organic foods. Residents can also enjoy other optional healing services such as therepeutic massage, and energy work. Gentle Joy encourages a balanced, social home-like atmosphere , and we consider our residents to be part of an extended family. New residents are welcomed when space is available.
Our staff includes one 24 hour on-call registered nurse, two big-hearted part time caregivers, and a playful baby sitter, which enables Gentle Joy to focus on the needs of the residents. Gentle Joy providing a unique care setting that focuses on the whole person: body, mind and soul. They joyously facilitate the resident's unique spiritual choices whether they be catholic, Unitarian, atheist or otherwise. Angela deeply feels that faith in a higher power is a vital part of life: especially towards the end of ones journey. We look forward to meeting with you in the near future! We have specialized in providing for the unique needs of residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. We also welcome residents recovering from surgery, chemotherapy and other forms of traditional medical therapy.
Angela is the proud parent of precious 4+ year-old twin girls, who are an integral part of the extended family atmosphere that we nurture here at Gentle Joy.
